Description
IK EXPANSION PACKS are our attempt and making it as easy as possible to expand your sonic vocabulary and customize your IK Template with the virtual instruments you already own but may not be using (either because there are too many patches to search through, or because integrating them with a template is actually a lot of work). Once installed, it’s your turn to figure out how you will use the patches in and amongst the stock MainStage patches! We can’t wait to hear what you’re going to do with them!!
The OB-Xd virtual instrument is FREE (or nearly so) and an incredible emulation of the classic Oberheim sound! It should be noted that one of the major differences between the OB-X and its descendants is that the OB-X has Oberheim S.E.M. filters while subsequent OB synthesizers have Curtis ladder filters which have a sometimes subtly but completely different sound. The OB-X is more purely Oberheim. As an Access Virus owner, THIS would be the hardware synth I would be most interested in owning. To have that sound available as a virtual plugin for layering with other patches, via the OB-Xd VST is a complete gift.
Oberheims didn’t have aftertouch, but it does now! With our IK programming, you control multiple parameters over precise ranges using just the mod-wheel. For example, panning all eight oscillators across in a stereo spread or back to mono, in addition to all the classic filter sweep programming we typically do. Most mind-blowing, is the ability to play Oscillator 2 detune with the aftertouch! Analog synth tuning is notoriously shaky, and the Oberheims had their epic moments of failure. Digital emulations won’t suffer from this problem – but neither do they necessarily benefit from the character this imparts on the sound. Intentionally “playing” the Osc 2 detune with aftertouch, brings this character back in the best way possible. You simply have to experience it to believe it.
NOTE: This expansion pack contains no samples so takes up almost no hard drive space! i.e. < 2 MB. It is not new sounds for OB-Xd Oberheim emulator. Instead, this expansion pack is an implementation of the OB-Xd Oberheim virtual instrument, with X-Y Pad parameters, volume, and effects parameters all carefully curated, into our templates.
p.s. Did we mentioned the OB-Xd 3rd party plugin is required?
