Description
The LIVE Synth Engine is designed to provide the absolute best-sounding most comprehensive library of sounds from stock MainStage. Consisting of 69 individual instrument sounds or “patches”, each and every patch has carefully curated parameters custom designed to respond in two dimensions to the mod-wheel and (more subtly) aftertouch.
- Keyboards (Rhodes, EPs, Organs) [14 patches]
- Analog Pads (Warm, Bright) [17 patches]
- Digital Pads (Bright, Chaotic, Evolving)) [10 patches]
- Synths (Poly, Mono) [16 patches]
- Orchestral (plucks, strings) [12 patches]
LIVE also includes two specially purposed sets of Combinations, efficiently built around aliased layers of the 69 patches. Each combination responds to the mod-wheel and aftertouch with significantly more dimensionality than the individual patches do alone.
- Transients / Tones / Layers: 13 combinations of patches geared toward the “first keys” player intended to simply and beautiful layer with the piano engine.
- Pads / Strings: 36 combinations of pads. From thick, warm, analog, to big, bold, digital, and including classical flavors such as strings, choirs and organs; this premium collection of pads is focused on giving the dedicated “second keys” player everything they need to serve the song in a big way.
The “secret sauce” of the Synth Engine is the X-Y pad which displays current mod-wheel and aftertouch values. Before long you will find all this real-time control will become second-nature to you, and you will intuitively respond to what is happening, without having to think about which knob to grab or how to modulate your sound in the most compelling way.
LIVE Stage Piano
Perhaps best of all, the piano engine is instantly available to layer with all of the above patches and combinations at any moment. LIVE supports two stock piano instruments, and a hardware input, all of which are configured through the piano engine, which features:
- Mod-wheel mapped to piano color
- One-touch 8va + Shimmer button (patent pending)
- Opto Compression
- Grand and/or Brighten equalization curves
- Nice Hall, Medium Hall, plus Spacious and Shimmer
In this way the piano and synth engines have an unprecedented multiplicative effect.
i.e. (69 patches + 49 combinations + Piano solo) x 4 piano modes (Yamaha, steinway, hardware, none) x 4 EQ curves (none, bright, grand, both) x 4 Verbs x 3 mod-wheel positions (really, 127 values of color) x 3 aftertouch positions (really 127 values) = a fifty-thousand possibilities, right out of the box, and many more if you build your own combinations.
